Description
Originally from a small town on Vancouver Island, Sharon worked in an administrative role with the California Association for Research in Astronomy at the W. M. Keck Observatory while living on Hawaii’s Big Island. After their children left for college, she worked with the African Wildlife Foundation in Washington DC, even traveling to Nairobi to support conservation and education programs. Following her husband’s passing, she relocated to be closer to family.
Sharon joined the Art With Elders program in 2023. Through her art, she has discovered a deep sense of satisfaction in letting her hands follow her imagination freely, often creating non-representational work that reflects her intuitive and creative mind. She has formed meaningful friendships through the class and finds the experience of creating alongside others both nurturing and inspiring.
Guided by the belief that life unfolds in chapters, she embraces change as an invitation to grow, remaining open to what each new beginning might reveal and grateful for the many rich and varied experiences that have shaped her journey. "I feel lucky to have had many chapters. Change can be very hard for some people, but I’ve always found it exciting, especially if you have control over the change, and can find a way to make it work for you. You have to recognize when one chapter is ending and another is beginning."
