Born in Tehran, Iran, Frieda Badal sought asylum in Cologne, Germany before making her way to the Bay Area.
Years ago, Frieda suffered from health complications which temporarily and partially impaired her ability to speak. Although she still occasionally experiences difficulty when conversing, art is now a means to communicate
ideas too difficult to put into words.
Frieda's representational abstract piece, "Spring Blooms" is an ode to nature. Its elusive lines and soft pastels express the tenderness and sense of wonder which one feels when spending time in the great outdoors.
Frieda also enjoys the boisterous laughter, the vocalizing, and lively discussions which sometimes take place in art class. She values communication, going to presbyterian church on Sunday, and believes that staying true to oneself is one of the most important things in life.
