Born in Chicago, Mary is a relative of famous Irish author James Joyce (he was her grandmother's nephew). Holding a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's in social sciences, she is an intuitive woman and appreciative of good art and literature. When Mary is not painting, she is writing, and not unlike other creatives, she finds a strong connection between the two.
Indeed, after rediscovering painting two years ago, she's found a vision. Conceptual and enigmatic in nature, her work focuses on meaning. "My work is an expression of whatever the particular piece of work means", she revealed in class.
"I seek to channel my intuition into the positive of the day.“ And she's nurtured strong creative bonds with her cohort of artists by discussing each other's pieces at the end of art class.
If there's one thing Mary would like others to keep in mind when pursuing a goal, creative endeavor, or dealing with any other particular issue in life: "take a chance."
