I was born in Germany in a Refugee Camp after WW2. A few years later we immigrated to New York City, through Ellis Island, a remarkable and wonderful opportunity. Growing up in the Bronx, I had access to the best museums, galleries, theatre, and all types of people. I studied Painting and Education at Music and Art High School and later received my BFA from New York CUNY Queens.
Throughout my life I have studied various art forms, including glass-work, ceramics, painting, life drawing and sculpture. I attended the Vetrate Institute of Art for Painting and Restoration of Glass windows in Siena, Italy, as well as Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, and also received a scholarship to Skowhegan School of Art in Maine for painting. I continued studies in Art Therapy at Notre Dame de Namur towards my Masters of Art.
Fortunately, I was able to join the Arts with Elders Watercolor class at Park Merced, which I really enjoy and look forward to. It is a social and uplifting experience and a highlight of my week. Everyone is engaged in creating beautiful watercolor paintings, and we are a happy group. Creating art has always been my form of expression, therapy, and satisfaction. In this class I have met interesting people with similar interests. Everyone should have a “special space” that gives meaning and passion to their lives."
