In 1918, the Florida Audubon Society issued this pamphlet to refute "the many false and misleading statements" regarding the Pelican. According to the seabird's arch enemy, the Florida fisherman, the pelican's delight in their natural food source was causing a loss in fishing revenue. After anglers attempted to remove a federal protection of Pelican breeding places, the Audubon Society distributed this pamphlet filled with letters and reports in defense of the bird, hoping to raise awareness.
