Le Trappeur combined down- and uphill ski boot

Entry/Object ID

LSB0005

Description

Black leather Le Trappeur ski boots from France. These have a rare alternating lacing pattern that was presumably designed to offer a tighter and more precise distribution of pressure on the foot. This model, designed for cable bindings, was of the type that could operate with both free and fixed heel, i.e., it was a combined down- and uphill ski boot. It has a notch in the back to accommodate the cable of a Kandahar-type binding. This kind of boot would also have been suitable for ski jumping, a still very popular discipline in the 1930s and 40s.
