Description

The Rossignol Allais 60 was the first Rossignol metal ski. It competed with the Head Standard ski in the US. This one was developed in the late 1950s with the help of the French champion, Emile Allais. In the year they were released, Jean Vuarnet won the gold at the Squaw Valley Olympics. That made him the first Olympian to win a gold medal on metal skis. Adding an interesting twist to the story, it was Emile Allais who had put Squaw Valley on the map in the first place and his friend Jo Marillac who swayed the IOC to vote by 32-30 for Squaw Valley to become the 1960 venue for the Olympics. These skis carry the Salomon Lift, which was the first release binding developed by Salomon in 1957.
