Distance learning support for students
Description
The Bakken Museum
Minneapolis, MN
When Minnesota’s schools turned to distance learning in the spring of 2020, The Bakken Museum surveyed parents and educators to hear what they most needed to help students stay on track. Understandably, students needed more direct support to complete their schoolwork and navigate technology. Museum educators researched best practices and developing science about COVID-19 to launch The Bakken Museum Clubhouse. During the clubhouse, up to eight students work with two educators to receive help with assignments from their teachers, play games, and learn about the innovation process. The clubhouse provides a safe and socially distanced environment for small groups of kids in grades three through eight to feel inspired and connected during a difficult time. The museum saw great success with this program, with many students returning for additional sessions and praise from parents.
