Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum
"From My Space to Yours," a Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum exhibition featuring studio photographs provided by sixty-two "Birds in Art" 2020 artists, also can be viewed online, offering a window into artists’ realms as colder weather shifts the focus to indoor spaces.
Included along with the photographs are artists’ words of gratitude about their work spaces, surroundings, and opportunities to pursue work they love. Whether or not the Museum is open and as the winter hibernation begins, the online photographs and words offer opportunities to kindle inspiration.
The artists’ studio photographs provide connections through the lens of creative work spaces. Sketches, specimens, skulls, instruments, and canine companions serve as studio assistants and informants. Bookshelves lined with objects and reference material allude to each artist’s distinct process and personality. Window views of trees, neighborhoods, creeks, and gardens connect makers to their environment and subjects beyond their studio walls.
Varied and inspired spaces, shared by our beloved and generous "Birds in Art" artists, offer a view into their studios this year in lieu of the artists’ visits to our community.
