Grand Rapids Public Museum
Grand Rapids, MI
The GRPM’s Home Museum webpage features free activities and experiences, appropriate for learners of all ages. Experiences include downloadable Scavenger Hunts and Discovery kits that guide the visitor through the GRPM’s online Collections, a tutorial on how to curate digital exhibits, coloring pages inspired by the GRPM’s Collections and astronomy activities. Since the Museum’s closure, the Home Museum page has averaged over 3,000 visits per month and has had various testimonies from parents commending the resources.
Additionally, the GRPM team has been proactive in finding new ways to generate revenue, beginning with offering member-exclusive content. The Museum offered a series of virtual member meet-ups to engage with its members during the closure, while also keeping the GRPM relevant. This resulted in members staying engaged, and member renewals during the closure. Programming included three meet-ups: Cocktails with a Curator, Stewards of the Mounds and Backyard Stargazing, which catered to three separate audiences.
