Description

Pages 12-14+76 Avian's 2/180 Progresses - Following the crash at Avro in Feb a group of aeronautical engineers who had been working together on a little-known Avro rotating wing project, decided to start something on their own. The Avro project had been started 3 years ago by Peter R. Payne and was Avro financed for 18 months prior to Black Friday. Payne and nearly all the key figures of this engineering team elected to remain in Canada and continue this project as a privately financed venture which was called Avian Industries Ltd. They set up operations id a small but modern cement block plant on the outskirts of Georgetown, Ont. with some 20 employees. The company expected to have 2 prototypes and hoped to receive a CofA and break into the light plane market.
