Page 27 Story 1: Big Doings at Avro- Sir Roy Dobson, president of Avro Canada paid a visit in Toronto with Sir Frank Whittle, technical advisor to BOAC. Sir Roy made the following comments about Avro activities: Peak employment of 10-12,000; Construction of seperate building for Orenda production; Avro would assemble the Jetliner from component made under contracts if enough orders were received and British European Airways was interested in Jetliner; The RCAF would receive the first production model of the CF-100 shortly and that there were 5 CF-100's on the production line which will be powered by Orenda; New jet testing houses with extensive silencing equipment are being constructed; Avro has about 1000 engineering staff and it will take about 2 years to reach full production: Story 2-Photos of Avro Lancasters which have been in storage since the war were being put back into service with maritime and photographic squadrons and Avro had subcontracted some of this work to The de Havilland Aircraft: Story 3- Martin Baker Aircraft Co.Ltd. of England was considering establishing a plant in Canada to manufacture the ejection seats for the CF-100.
