Description

Born in 1889 in Virgina and moved to Canada in 1913, Walter was an aviation pioneer who received his pilots license in 1912 which was signed by Orville Wright - in 1927, he drove Charles Lindberg around Ottawa. Joined Fleet Aircraft in 1930 and left in 1945 as their VP & GM. Joined Avro Canada in 1945 as their VP and General Manager and member of their board. Walter gave the speech for the Jetliner's Official Flight in 1949. Resigned from his role as VP & GM in 1951 due to health but stayed on the board until 1954. Lived in York, Ontario. Died in 1956 at age 65.
