An engineering graduate of the University of Toronto in 1941, Mr. Ames joined the Massey-Harris aircraft division where he later became chief aircraft engineer. In 1947 he went to Avro and served in several capacities including that of chief test engineer, structural & mechanical, chief of product design & Chief Design Engineer, Commercial. Went on to Avro subsidiary Canadian Applied Research Ltd. as Vice President and GM, succeeding J.L. Plant in 1960. Listed as VP of Hawker Siddeley Canada Ltd in 1962.
