During the war years as Assistant Designer, worked on the Lancaster, During employment at de Havilland in England worked on the Vampire and 108 Flying Wing Project. Was Assistant designer working at A.V. Roe & Co. Ltd Mancester who was working on the Lancaster, York & Tutor. He joined Avro in 1945 as a Chief Engineer and Designer who worked as the Chief Stress Engineer on the Chinook jet engine then while working with John Frost, came up with the CF-100 aircraft. In 1949 he was working on the XC102 (Jetliner project) and by 1951 was involved in both the Canuck and Orenda Engine. He was promoted to Technical Director in 1952 but resigned in the summer to move on to Grumman.
