Member of A.V. Roe & Co (UK) and Avro Canada's first president in 1945 and managing director. He had set the ground for the purchase of Victory Aircraft in 1943. Led the purchase of Turbo Research Ltd in April/1946. President & managing Director of Avro Manchester as of 1950. When J.P. Bickell died in 1951, he bacame chairman of the board with Crawford Gordon taking on the role of President. On the Board of Directors as Managing Director of Hawker Siddeley Group in 1952 - he provides details of the company reorg and solicits W. Curtis for the Avro Board. Chairman for Avro Canada throughout the 1950's (including Avro subsidary companies including CanCar in 1955), provided updates on all projects ranging from the Jetliner to Avrocar. Attended first Avro 10 year awards event in 1955. Attended Meeting Jan 31, 1958 with Curtis-Wright regarding Development of Ramjet Engines. Quoted as telling Diefenbaker that he had been dissatisfied with Crawford Gordon's work and would seek his resignation. Worked in the Executive as Managing Director, Hawker Siddeley Group 1961. As Chairman of the Board and President of A.V. Roe Canada Ltd, he accepted resignations of Fred T. Smye & John L. Plant after the Arrow was cancelled. Sept 10, 1959 he sent word that Air Marshall Curtis was empowered ot act in his absence.
