Description

Born in 1918, was a CPO in the RN FAA. He served on a number of ships one being HMS Ajax which brought some British Gold to Montreal to pay for war materiel being manufactured in Canada and the USA. It was the 4.5 Billion of British Treasury gold that reignited American industry by paying for new machinery. They moved the gold on flatbed trucks covered with tarps from The Port of Montreal to safe keeping in The Sun Life Building basement. That trip affirmed that Canada was a better place to move to than a lot of other places. The French moved their gold (4.5B) to the Caribbean, safe from the Germans and intact at the end of WW2. Placed an ad for appartment for rent in Avro Magazine Vol 5 No 1
