Assistant Designer who was involved in TR-4 Chinook engine in 1946, first engine designed and built in Cananda which first ran in 1948 while at Turbo Reseach then went on to worked in the Gas Turbine Division of Avro Canada where he also worked on the Orenda series of engines. Assisted Lloyd Secord as of 1950. Was included in the 1951 - Gas Turbine Division Souvenir Programme for 5th Anniversary Dance program. Participant at first 10 yr awards in 1955. Orenda Chief Design Services Engineer delivered a talk on Standardization to the Standards Engineers Society 1958. Worked in the Deputy Chief Engineer's Department in 1959 as a Chief Design Services Engineer. Worked in the Orenda Engineering Dept as Project Manager. Attended the Avro Arrow reunion, International Centre, Malton March 26, 1983. Many of the Orenda names in both the AvroLand and Avro Museum listings came from Mel.
