a graduate of engineering from the University of British Columbia, was an RCAF Air Vice Marshall in France in 1952, in 1954 he attended a conference to discuss problems with the C-105 and in 1956 he announced his retirement from his role as A.O.C. Air Material Command to join Collins Radio Co. of Canada in Toronto after 25 years in the RCAF (see object 1939). John joined Avro Aircraft as executive vice-president and general manager in 1957, four months later he became president and general manager and also director Avro Aircraft Services (Belgium) 1958. He was President and GM when the Arrow cancellation was announced and he resigned in the summer of 1959. The March 1960 Canadian Aviation magazine stated that he was appointed vice-president and GM of Canadian Applied Research Ltd (object 1829). The Sep 1960 Canadian Aviation edition listed that he was appointed vice-president and GM of Collins Radio Co. of Canada Ltd - (object 1820 - note that this is the same company he initially planned to join in 1956). He attended the Avro Arrow March 26, 1983 reunion which was hosted at the International Centre, Malton - his photo is in the reunion package included with the Orenda News.
