Born in Hamilton, ON 6 Aug 1916, Fred worked during the war years for the Government of Canada in New During employment, lived in York, Washington and Ottawa for the Department of Munitions and Supply, Aircraft Branch Director - 1942, eventually becoming Director of Aircraft Production. Worked for C.D. Howe in 1943, in 1944 he was appointed Assistant General Manager of Federal Aircraft Limited in Montreal, in early 1945 as Director of Aircraft Production tasked with privatizing Turbo Research Ltd 1945. On 1 Aug 1945, he became the first employee of Avro Canada and on 1 Dec 1945 he officially became the Assistant General Manager for Avro Canada. Was a passenger on the Jetliner for its NYC flight - 1950. Vice President & G.M. Spoke at anniversary dinner and received Ten-Year Club pin in 1955. Involved with Special Projects on the USAF Project 1794 - 1955, involved with the Avrocar by 1956. Promoted to President of Avro Aircraft as of 1956, President and Chairman of Board of Canadian Applied Research and Canadian Steel Improvement - 1957, Executive VP Aeronautical Design working on the CF-105 1958. Resigns Aug 1 1959 and went on and purchased Canadian Ofrex as President working in the office equipment and furnishing business in 1963 and stayed there until selling the company in 1972 when he retired and moved to Portugal the following year. Stayed in Portugal until his death from cancer in December 1985.
