Joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1917 flying Sopwith Camels. Joined Boeing first in Seattle then Vancouver. Spent 10 years as a bush pilot. Turbo Research Ltd. employee working in manufacturing inspection in 1945. Went from Turbo Research to A.V. Roe in May 1946 - while at Turbo Research Ltd he was involved in TR-4 Chinook engine, first engine designed and built in Canada which finally ran in 1948. By 1951 his 21 yr old son who worked in the same section with Fred. Joined the 10 year club in 1956. Ended up with Orenda Engines Division as Assistant Chief Inpector. Trivia - he had a 200 acre dairy farm east of Toronto in Agincourt
