1715 Sermon Book by Benjamin Coleman, with Foreward by Cotton Mather

Description
The book was signed in 1754 by Benjamin Wyton, as can be seen in the first photo. The sermon was given at the execution of a woman who gave birth to a "spurious" child. This meant an illegitimate child, however she more likely hung for trying to hide the birth of the child who may have been stillborn. Hiding the death of a newborn was considered murder and was punishable by death.
