The book was signed in 1754 by Benjamin Wyton, as can be seen in the first photo. The sermon was given at the execution of a woman who gave birth to a "spurious" child. This meant an illegitimate child, however she more likely hung for trying to hide the birth of the child who may have been stillborn. Hiding the death of a newborn was considered murder and was punishable by death.Created By
