Clouds are visible on the horizon and several sailboats are docked in the foreground, some with thier sails up and some without. There's also three speed boats and the Balboa Island Ferry visible behinde the sailboats. the back reads: Balba Day - Balboa Island (cut off) Balboa Island is one of several that is located in Balboa Bay. The island is covered with homes whose owners have the largest pleasure fleet of boats on the Pacific Coast. Hundreds of motor and sailboats dot the lagoon-like bay. The bay was formed by the waters from the Santa Ana River. By 1915 so much silt had been washed into the bay that the river channel was changed to empty into the ocean forth of Newport Beach. the bay was an important commercial port from 1872 to 1898... M.
