Name/Title
Yellow Houses at BalboaEntry/Object ID
BIM2020.26.40Description
A colorized or artistic rendering of the Yellow Houses, the converted Tent City rental buildings that underwent a name change following the building conversion. The postcard has two colorized photographs of the buildings, one taken from what is now East Balboa Blvd (then Central), and one from the corner at the cross street. Scalloped edges.
The back features an advertisement for the Yellow Houses at Balboa with the rates (crossed out in pencil) and the contact information. Everett Chace is listed as the owner and the address is 400 East Central Avenue. The phone is Harbor 30, which has been corrected on this card. Print number 9A-H532.
The "H" in the printer number indicates that the postcard was a C. T. Colorit card- meaning it was printed with a five-color process from a black and white photo on linen paper but had a deckle edge rather than a straight edge.Subject
