Description

Two copies of an advertising postcard for Newport Harbor featuring a black and white image of the S/S Wheeler Apartment-Hotel previously on East Balboa Blvd in "Balboa City". The build is three stories tall with external staircases, a boat-like architectural feel, and rope & wood railings. It has since been torn down. The postcard may have been distributed by the business. Two copies, one sent and one unused. Both copies have an advertising paragraph on the back citing the local draws like boating and swimming. It also included the address and phone number. One of the cards has this information printed larger than the other. Both were printed by National Press, Inc. in North Chicago. The sent copy was addresed to Mrs. Ethel Urton in Turlock, California. It was sent with the 3 cent purple Liberty postage stamp on August 23, 1959. It was stamped with the "Pray for Peace" cancel.
