Description

Post card with a color photograph of the South Bay Front beach. Back reads: Balboa Bay: Balboa bay is located along the coast of Orange County. This port was once popular with Yankee smugglers, and was an important commercial port from 1872 to 1898. The Santa Ana River carried great quantities of silt into the bay by 1915 and it finally had to be dredged to a depth of 10 ft at low tide. Today thousands of pleasure boats are tied up to the shore of Balboa island and along the main land.... R. D. Photo color by Merle Porter. Published by Roayl Pictures, Colton Calif.
