In memory of the late poet Bitoriano Gandaria, born in the Orbelaun Caserio in Mendata, the 2001 Timed Trekking Trial was dedicated to him. The participants had the opportunity to visit the poet's house during the trekking trial, and to enjoy the rich architectural, natural and artistic heritage that the trail had to offer.
Of course, the publication was also dedicated to Bitoriano. His work was review and his human values where also accounted for. Many of his friends participated in the making of the book, and they expressed how they felt about Bitoriano Gandaria, his work, his personality, and his great sensibility towards nature.
