Summary:"In a tragic moment of Basque history marked by defeat in a civil war and his own exile in 1938, Manu de la Sota wrote this previously unpublished diary of his journey to the states of Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon. His objective was to gather in solidarity the scattered Basque community, accompanied by Antonio de Irala, for those territories of the American West but instead discovered hundreds of Basques distant in space, and perhaps also in time, of that country. His interesting reflections, humorous at times, about the character of the people and about the ideas around which we live, are shared in this diary of the trip with original discourses to the Basques of the Far West issued by the radio or published in the newspaper of Boise"-- Provided by publisher
