Exterior view of the Anderson Block around 1900, building located at the corner of Wilson and Batavia Ave at 2 & 4 N Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL 60510. Trim work around top of building is tin. Most of the facade is brick and the base foundation seems to be made of Limestone. The top of the facade on the West side of the building has a relief that reads "Anderson Bros | 18 Block 32." The 1st floor of the building seems to be a windowed store front with signage that reads from left to right "Groceries & Crockery | Anderson Brothers | Dry Goods & Clothing | Groceries." Several figures stand outside the building on the sidewalk and horse-drawn carts with goods are on the dirt road by the curb.
The front of the print contains crop marks and "Marj Holbrook" written in black ink above the image. The back of the image has donor and collection notes in pencil and ink notes related to the printing process. These notes indicate this photo might have been used by the Beacon News.Photograph Details
