P781Description
Black and white Postcard with a bird's eye view of Batavia looking to the South East from the North West. There is a cow grazing on right side of card in a flooded field. A smaller animal (possibly another cow) is next to a flooded area of the field and train tracks protected by a wire fence. These train tracks might have been apart of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad if the orientation is correct.
The steeple of Holy Cross Church visible on left. Appleton Manufacturing, of another industrial factory is in center of photo on an island in the river. The closest view seems to be of a lumberyard. The visible part of the Island in the river is approximately where the RiverRain Apartments are located today (2020s).Photograph Details
