Description

Printed photographs labeled "B.V.P. Bird's Eye View of Busy Batavia." and "Sunday Morning on Wilson Street." Images are printed on opposite sides of the paper and were previously given 2 separate object IDs. This page was perhaps originally from a pamphlet as one side is rough as if torn from a book. The front photo is a Bird's Eye View of Batavia factories and the east side of the Fox river with a stone arch bridge in the center. The image seems to be facing the Southwest of Batavia with the island factories and the "Raceway" cut into the island by Levi Newton in 1854 is seen at the left in front of limestone industrial buildings. The back photo is of downtown Batavia looking West on Wilson Street, taken a bit East of River Street. Horse drawn carriages are on the road and pedestrians are walking on the sidewalks. Powerlines run down both sides of the street. A large building on the left advertises James Mair "Shoes" and more commercial stores lead down to a bridge. On the Right, there is a sign for "B. Zimmerman Grocer?"
