Detail of Everett Johnson used to illustrate a panel with a quote from a letter he wrote his parents in 1945. Johnson served in WWII as part of the HQ Battery, 8th Inf. Division. He wrote to his parents about his visit to a Nazi concentration camp. "A few days ago I visited a Nazi concentration camp. I have read articles about them but I never could believe anyone could be so inhuman. Well, now I know what murderers the Nazis are and I also see why we are over here."Updated By
