Command at Sea insignia pin worn by Captain Peter Fiedler while on USS Texas.

Context

USS Texas (CGN-39) was the 3rd ship named USS Texas. She was a Virginia-class nuclear guided-missile cruiser commissioned from September 10, 1977, to July 16, 1993. She entered the nuclear recycling program on October 1, 1999. Peter Fiedler was the first captain of the nuclear cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) from October 1975 to January 1979. He supervised construction, and took official command on September 10, 1977, when the cruiser was commissioned. The Command at Sea insignia is worn by the commanding officer of any given vessel. The insignia was authorized for wear in 1960 and is still worn today.
