Context

Battleship Texas began preparations for Operation “Dragoon,” the invasion of Southern France, on July 5, 1944. She departed Taranto for Provence on August 11, supported the landings from August 15 to August 17, and returned to Palermo on August 18, 1944. HMS Nabob (D77) was a Ruler-class escort aircraft carrier built by the United States as USS Edisto (CVE-41) before being transferred to the Royal Navy. She was commissioned from September 7, 1943, to October 10, 1944. She was torpedoed by U-354, returned to the US in 1946, and converted to mercantile use. She was sold for scrap in 1977.
