William Hynes was a veteran of World War I, who later joined the crew of Battleship Texas from December 31, 1922, to July 24, 1925. He joined the crew as a WT1c and left as a MM1c.
The World War One Victory Medal (referred to as the Victory Medal before WWII) was awarded to US service members who participated from April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918, with a few exceptions for later service. The medal was established by different military departments in Spring 1919.
The Navy Good Conduct Medal is the oldest continually awarded medal in the US Navy. The first of its kind was awarded in 1869. It is awarded to sailors after finishing an enlistment.Collection
