Context

Battleship Texas was commissioned in 1914, served in World War One throughout 1918, and participated in interwar fleet training throughout the early 1920s. USS New York (BB-34) was the sister ship of USS Texas, and the lead ship of the New York-class battleships. She was commissioned from May 15, 1914, to August 29, 1946.
