Context

Battleship Texas steamed, berthed, and operated alongside hundreds of ships from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and other fleets across the globe throughout her time in commission from 1914 to 1948. Orville Johnson collected photos throughout his time as a sailor onboard Battleship Texas from 1929 to 1930. USS Lexington (CV-2) was the lead ship of her class of aircraft carrier, and commissioned from December 14, 1927, and scuttled on May 8, 1942, after sustaining damage from Japanese bombers the day prior.
