Battleship Texas participated in various fleet maneuvers and exercises in the Atlantic Ocean (1919) and later Pacific Ocean from July 1919 through January 1924. Beginning in February 1923, maneuvers became known as Fleet Problems, which continued to 1939.
USS New York (BB-34) was the sister ship of USS Texas, and the lead ship of the New York-class battleships. She was commissioned from May 15, 1914, to August 29, 1946.
Lawrence J. Gaddis was a musician on Battleship Texas from 1920 to 1922. He collected many souvenirs and performed on and off the ship during his travels in Pacific waters for Fleet Maneuvers and cruises to South America.
Newspapers often wrote stories about Battleship Texas and her crew. While sometimes inaccurate or sensational, they showed the perceptions of the Homefront, and were collected by citizen and crew alike.
USS Wyoming (BB-32) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and commissioned from September 12, 1912, to August 1, 1947. She was sold for scrap on October 30, 1947.
USS Arkansas (BB-33) was a Wyoming-class battleship commissioned from September 17, 1912, to July 29, 1946. She was sunk as a part of Operation “Crossroads” on July 25, 1946.
USS New Mexico (BB-40) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and was commissioned from May 20, 1918, to July 19, 1946. She was scrapped in 1948.
USS Mississippi (BB-41) was a New Mexico-class battleship commissioned from December 18, 1917, to September 17, 1956. She was broken up in 1957.
USS Idaho (BB-42) was a New Mexico-class battleship commissioned from March 24, 1919, to July 3, 1946. She was sold for scrap on November 24, 1947.Collection
