Battleship Texas was flagship of the Training Detachment from June 27, 1937, to September 1, 1939. She made many Midshipman Cruises with students from the Naval Academy throughout this period. She also participated in various neutrality patrols and escort missions in the North Atlantic Ocean from November 1939 to December 7, 1941.
