The United States entered World War I on April 6, 1917. Battleship Texas and other American coal-fired dreadnoughts began making preparations to join with the British Grand Fleet in the North Sea and began their departure in September 1917.
Magazines often wrote stories about Battleship Texas and her crew. While sometimes inaccurate or sensational, they showed the perceptions of the Homefront, and were collected by civilian and crew alike.Collection
