Context

Battleship Texas operated heavily in the Caribbean from January 1915 through March 1917. While the First World War continued, the United States remained neutral. USS New York (BB-34) was the sister ship of USS Texas, and the lead ship of the New York-class battleships. She was commissioned from May 15, 1914, to August 29, 1946.
