Photo of Admiral Jehu V. Chase in service dress blues with great coat and wearing gloves. He is photographed on the deck of the battleship at the side of the one the ship's turrets. On the back of the picture is a paper note glued to the back of the photo captioning the photo and attributing the photo to International Newsreel Photo. The photo appears to have been taken by photoservice for use in newspapers and is stamped by the above mentioned company with their company stamp. It is also stamped "Recvieved Examiner / Reference Library / Nov 6 1930" The paper caption states: " 552567...WATCH YOUR CREDIT..INTERNATION NEWSREEL PHOTO / SLUG (ADMIRAL CHASE) / NAVY'S NEW COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF ARRIVES IN NEW YORK. / NEW YORK.....ADMIRAL JEHU VALENTINE CHASE, WHO, ON / OCTOBER 6TH WAS APPINTED COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE / UNITED STATES FLEET, PICTURED ON HIS FLAGSHIP, THE / U.S.S. Battleship Texas was flagship of the United States Fleet from September 1, 1927, to September 15, 1931. Admirals Wiley, Pratt, and Chase served as Commander-in-Chief, United States Fleet in that time.
