Photograph showing the crew of boiler room 4 in four rows, with one of the boilers at left. In the top border "No 4 Fireroom gang Texas" is written. In the upper left corner there is the remnant of a photo holder from a black paper photo album page. It is also appears that photo was torn from a larger photo -the right edge of the photo is torn and has no border. This photo is of Boiler Room 4 before the coal fired boilers were replaced with the present oil fired boilers.

Context

Battleship Texas was commissioned in 1914, served in World War One throughout 1918, and participated in interwar fleet training throughout the early 1920s.
