Description

Black rectangular case with gold lettering on the top and bottom leather covers. Tops says, "NAVIGATOR'S CASE U.S. NAVY" and bottom says, "Eugene Dietzgen Co" located in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Pulling a nail unlocked latch and opens the case. Interior is lined with light green velvet. Three instruments within.

Context

Charles Pratt was an ensign onboard Battleship Texas for a brief time in 1921 and would continue to serve in the Navy until 1942. He collected much throughout his military life and beyond.
