Context

Battleship Texas was flagship of the United States Fleet from September 1, 1927, to September 15, 1931. Admirals Wiley, Pratt, and Chase served as Commander-in-Chief, United States Fleet in that time. Newspapers often wrote stories about Battleship Texas and her crew. While sometimes inaccurate or sensational, they showed the perceptions of the Homefront, and were collected by civilian and crew alike.
