Context

Battleship Texas steamed, berthed, and operated alongside hundreds of ships from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and other fleets across the globe throughout her time in commission from 1914 to 1948. The Chicago Tribune is a daily newspaper based in Chicago, Illinois, and founded in 1847. Newspapers often wrote stories about Battleship Texas and her crew. While sometimes inaccurate or sensational, they showed the perceptions of the Homefront, and were collected by citizen and crew alike. USS Utah (BB-31) was a Florida-class battleship commissioned from August 31, 1911, to September 5, 1944. She was sunk at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
