Peter Fiedler was the first captain of the nuclear cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) from October 1975 to January 1979. He supervised construction, and took official command on September 10, 1977, when the cruiser was commissioned.
The Bronze Star Medal was awarded for heroic achievements or service, and meritorious achievements or service. The medal was made via an executive order by FDR on February 4, 1944, and awarded retroactively beginning on December 7, 1941. Bronze Star Medals with a “V” on the ribbon denote meritorious combat service during the Vietnam War.Collection
