Peter Fiedler was the first captain of the nuclear cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) from October 1975 to January 1979. He supervised construction, and took official command on September 10, 1977, when the cruiser was commissioned.
The National Defense Service Medal was awarded to participants in the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, and the Global War on Terror. The medal was established by Eisenhower via Executive Order 10448 on April 22, 1953.Collection
