Context

Battleship Texas steamed, berthed, and operated alongside hundreds of ships from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and other fleets across the globe throughout her time in commission from 1914 to 1948. USS North Carolina (BB-55) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and commissioned from April 9, 1941, to June 27, 1947. She was made into a museum ship in Wilmington, North Carolina on April 29, 1962.
